Herbal therapy is part of a complete medical system which has been prevalent throughout the ages, to treat and prevent illness or regain health by using herbs. At JNI, the therapy involves a special type of deep vigorous manipulation in which herbal powders are massaged on the body in the upward direction.
It is one of the steps of Panchakarma, a classical Ayurveda therapy. The procedure is to gently pour a lukewarm liquid in a steady stream on the forehead to induce a relaxed state of awareness. The name comes from the Sanskrit words ‘shiro’ (head) and ‘dhara’ (flow).
